Photo A Day # 160

In the past I have credited lots of people with teaching me things about photography and helping to hone my craft. I do not however feel I have ever fully given my father the thanks he deserves. My dad has had and continues to have the largest influence in my photographic career. I remember when I was younger he never had a problem letting me borrow his camera, even if I burned through a whole roll of film and captured nothing. He'd take me to get my pics developed and look through them with me and show me how to improve. Even these days he lets me shoot with his new camera and travel all over with it, having complete faith that i will return it in one piece. He is always encouraging and helps to push me to take better photos. I will admit that almost every time I take a picture I take it in mind that I want to amaze my pops.
So Happy Fathers Day dad! I had a great day hiking and shooting pics with you. Thanks for teaching me all you know and continuing to impart your wisdom to me. You are a truly great man and an even better role model and I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. I love you.

Photo A Day # 157

Tonight I shot the Hillfield Strathallan College Formal. Now I cannot legally show you pictures of students but I saw no harm in showing off my pretty new backdrop and the balloons I "borrowed" from the bar. So for the sake of this photo just imagine a bunch of graduating students dressed to the nines, super excited to be starting a new chapter in their lives.
I would like to thank Hillfield for allowing me the opportunity to shoot the formal and a HUGE thanks to Skylar who helped me out tonight. You're the man! Don't know if I could of pulled it off without ya.

Photo A Day # 155

Today I shot down in the RBG. I met two really nice photographers by the names of Ted & Vern. They shoot there regularly and photograph mostly birds. Together both of them knew more about birds and water fowl then I could ever hope to retain in one afternoon. Hopefully I will see them again. Cheers fellas!

Photo A Day # 154

What possessed me to drive half way to St. Catharine's to take a picture today? Perhaps it was the hundred or so times I'd driven by this ship and always said I should take its picture? Maybe it was my uncle telling me how he always goes there to shoot? Or maybe I just needed out of the house? Either way, a road trip with the tunes blasting, my camera and myself, was a much needed adventure.
It's so refreshing to just be by myself with my camera. Taking way too long to set up a shot. Trekking into the bush to get a certain picture and not having to worry about stragglers. The only sound is the waves crashing against the shore and the birds chirping in the trees. It was magical. Sorry you couldn't be there but this was a much needed solo mission.

Just ask Eric how they met. . .

Photo A Day # 145

Tonight was Nick's stag and (what I like to refer to it as) D'oh! I some how worked my way into shooting the entire evening. While I shot over 400 pictures this one I accidentally shot on Aperture Priority mode. I was really diggin the strange "retro" feel.
What will happen with the rest of the pictures you ask? Who knows? Perhaps I will post more of them here? Maybe they will end up on Facebook? There was however a rumour floating around that they will be turned into a . . .? I guess you will just have to wait and see. Cheers!
